German Carrier planned introduction of the Airbus A350 in January 2017 to further reduce the ability of first-class airline, while the number of economy seats will increase.

The Airbus A350 is configured without first class on a design comprising 48 business class, 21 Premium Economy and 224 economy seats. But the aircraft that will replace - A340-600 - is equipped with eight first class, 56 business, 28 Premium Economy and 189 economy seats, according to Lufthansa website.

The airline plans to station 10 A350 in Munich, and has orders for 25 aircraft of the same type. Lufthansa says it will continue to operate A330 with first class seats from secondary school.

It adds that the A350 will be operated by the main line rather than a subsidiary CityLine regional unit. That division is working A340-300 from Frankfurt with a denser configuration cabin - no first class seats fewer business - under the brand of the main line. Currently Lufthansa has 20 A340-600s in service today, and they were built between 2003 and 2009.
